From Barbie’s Dream House to Bad Things’ nightmare!
Model and actor Hari Nef is playing a Barbie in this summer’s most-anticipated movie, Barbie, but she’s also got another film premiering soon that we’re also excited for: the thriller Bad Things.
“A wonderful visit today from @harinef! ✨ ❤️ Her latest film, Stewart Thorndike's BAD THINGS, premieres at @Tribeca this weekend!”— Criterion Collection (@Criterion Collection) 1686088640
Bad Things follows a group of queer friends who go on a weekend getaway and soon discover that “women do bad things here.”
“For a group of friends in the Northeast, a weekend getaway at a snowy resort sounds like just what the doctor ordered,” the official description reads. “An opportunity to reconnect, relax, and recuperate among serene, snow-capped mountains and trees. But peace doesn’t last long as the ghosts of guests past and relationships long buried come to light. Soon enough, their trip transforms into a psychological tailspin and bloody nightmare, as both long-deceased guests and the space itself come to life, and the group turn on each other in a race to stay alive.”
Nef describes the film as “kind of like The Shining with lesbians,” and said she was excited to work with a queer filmmaker on a queer genre film.
The movie also stars Gayle Rankin (GLOW), Annabelle Dexter-Jones (Succession), nonbinary Betty star Rad Pereira, Jared Abrahamson (Ramy), and Molly Ringwald. It is written and directed by queer filmmaker Stewart Throndike (Lyle).
Bad Things is making its world premiere Friday, June 9 at the Tribeca Film Festival. It will then debut on Shudder and AMC+ on August 18.- Here Are All the Actresses Playing Barbie in the New Live-Action Movie ›
