There’s a new rumor about who bicon Aubrey Plaza will be playing when she joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming show Agatha: Coven of Chaos!
Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness was the breakout character of the Disney+ show WandaVision, and now, she’s getting her own campy spinoff starring Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Debra Jo Rupp, Joe Locke, and Sasheer Zamata. While most of the new characters have been kept tightly under wraps, there’s a new rumor about who Plaza might be playing.
Plaza, who recently received her first Emmy nomination for her role in The White Lotus, is one of the most exciting casting choices in the MCU, and so of course, fans have been desperate to know who she’ll be playing.Screw it let’s reveal Aubrey Plaza’s character in #AgathaCovenOfChaos….

She will be playing.............
Rio Vidal! The FIRST Green Witch and Agatha's Ex 💚🙅🏻♀️💜 pic.twitter.com/2Vr0S05bPd
Now, there’s a new rumor that we might have that information. According to @CanWeGetSomeToast, a Twitter user known for Marvel leaks and scoops, Plaza will be playing Rio Vidal, “the FIRST Green Witch and Agatha’s ex!”
Now that would be news! If Plaza is Agatha’s ex, that means this will be the first MCU project centered around a queer character.
There isn’t really a Marvel comics character named the Green Witch or Rio Vidal, so fans are left speculating who this character might be. In the comics there was an Emerald Warlock – Scarlet Witch’s grandfather was the Scarlet Warlock – so this could be a gender-bent version of him.
It could, of course, also just be a rumor that’s later debunked by an actual announcement of Plaza’s character. Other rumors are that Plaza could be playing the personification of Death, the witch Morgan le Fay, creator of dreams Nightmare, or even the devil Mephisto himself.

I'm also hearing Aubrey Plaza will be wearing green cloaks. 👀 pic.twitter.com/glf6JqJ1yT
Speculation that Plaza might be playing Morgan le Fey, who is traditionally dressed in green, also ties into this “Green Witch” theory. When both Hahn and Plaza were nominated for Emmys, their Agatha co-star Joe Locke congratulated both of them on Instagram. He used a purple heart (Agatha’s colors) to congratulate Hahn, and a green heart to celebrate Plaza.
Joe Locke (Heartstopper) will be playing a teen version of the character Wiccan, who is one of Wanda and Vision’s twin sons and is gay. A version of the character was introduced as a baby and later a child in WandaVison.
There’s a lot of mystery and hype around this show, and even though most of the MCU has been lackluster lately, we’re very excited for it, no matter who Plaza ends up playing!
