Tops and bottoms rejoice! We now know when the upcoming queer teen comedy Bottoms will come out!
Bodies, Bodies, Bodies star Rachel Sennott and The Bear breakout Ayo Edebiri star in the latest film from Shiva Baby’s Emma Seligman, Bottoms. It follows two unpopular high school queer girls (played by Sennott and Edebiri) who want to have sex before they graduate. In order to attract the attention of the cheerleaders they’re trying to woo, they start up a fight club.
Our only question: Are the titular bottoms the two girls who start the fight club? Is that why they want to get beat up? Or are the bottoms the cheerleaders they’re going after? Only time will tell.
The movie also stars Kaia Gerber, Ruby Cruz, Marshawn Lynch, Havana Rose LIu, Nicholas Galitzine, Zamani Wilder, Summer Campbell, Virginia Tucker, Miles Fowler, Punkie Johnson, Dagmara Dominczyk, Lacey Dover, and Alesix Horrigan. Oh, the movie also has a score co-written by one of our favorite artists, Charli XCX!
Early reviews for the film are praising it, calling it Heathers for a new generation. And with this team behind it, we wouldn’t expect anything else.
The movie premiered at SXSW, and now, we finally know when it will be coming out! August 25 was announced as Bottoms Day, the day the movie comes out, so get your bottoms (and tops) into a theater then!
There’s still no official preview, but we are thirstily waiting for one!
